Do I have to be a member of The Field to participate in FLF?
No. FLF is not a member-exclusive opportunity.  Anyone interested in participating may apply.

Am I eligible to apply even though I am fiscally sponsored by The Field (or another fiscal sponsor)?
Yes fiscally sponsored artists / arts organizations are eligible to apply.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to participate in FLF?
No, but you must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

What qualifies me to apply as an Arts Organization Fellow?
Any individual who has a leadership role in a group that has been formed with a specific focus on performing and / or multimedia art can apply as an Arts Organization Fellow. There are no parameters around budget size, incorporation, number of employees, or years of existence. Examples include: music ensembles, dance companies, theater companies, arts education organizations and artists collectives.

Do I have to pay to participate in FLF?
No. We pay you!

What is the duration of FLF?
FLF is a 16-month commitment. It begins December 3rd, 2015 and runs through March 2017.

I am already working with someone. Can we apply together or does The Field have to match the artist with the manager?
You may each apply separately.  However, we cannot guarantee that both of you will be accepted. If both of you are accepted, you can request to be paired together, but we cannot guarantee that you will be.

How do I apply for FLF if I don’t have access to a computer?
1) You can schedule a time to come into The Field Office located in downtown Manhattan to use a laptop by emailing The Field Leadership Fund Project Manager at rajeeyah@thefield.org  with the subject line “laptop,”

2) You can visit your local public library which offers computers with Internet access during open hours.
Both options are free. 

What if I can’t attend the retreats in December 2015 and August 2016?
In order to participate in FLF you must attend both retreats. There is no way to make up these events.

What if I can’t attend all of the scheduled workshops (January – March 2016)?
In order to participate in FLF you must attend all of the scheduled workshops.

What if I can’t complete all of the Internship hours?
In order to participate in FLF you must attend all of the Internship hours.

How do I know if my artistic discipline is a good fit for FLF?
FLF is for arts organizations or artists who make and present live performance, film, literary, television, or other activities in the creative economy.

How does an organization participate in FLF?
Organizations can participate in FLF by applying and being selected as an Arts Organization Fellow. One representative from the organization will serve as the Arts Organization Fellow.  This representative must attend the FLF retreats and workshops just as do all other fellows in the program. For the FLF internships, a Manager Fellow will work at the participating arts organization. The Arts Organization Fellow will serve as the main contact for the intern there.  Arts Organization Fellows should plan to be available as a point person during both round of internships (April 2016 – March 2017).

I am interested in both the Manager Fellowship and the Artists/Arts Organization Fellowship. Can I apply for more than one catigory?
No. You should only apply for one category.  All fellows will receive support in If you are accepted as an Arts Manager Fellow, you will be paired with an Artist or Arts Organization Fellow for an internship.  If you apply as an Artist /Arts Organization Fellow you will be paired with an Arts Manager Fellow who will offer support.
